Continue the Left 4 Dead Story or Give Us a Prequel…
We asked the question “Should Left 4 Dead 3 be a prequel or continue where L4D 2 left off?” on our Facebook Page. A whopping 80% voted to continue the Left 4 Dead story line. I was shocked by the large discrepancy between the two choices. The idea of a prequel intrigues me and I was expecting at least 30-35% of the voters would like a prequel. What I find intriguing about a L4D prequel is there are many back stories that can be filled in. The first being how the infection started, its root cause. From there a story about the survivors from both games could be introduced and maybe even some side characters such as Jimmy Gibbs, Chicago Ted, and Ellis’ much talked about Keith. The possibilities are almost endless when the subject is a world wide zombie apocalypse. Aren’t you the least bit curious or is a continued story line more important?
I ask those of you reading this, in what direction should the Left 4 Dead 3 story go? Do you want to see some form of a prequel, a continuation from Left 4 Dead 2, or an entire new set of survivors parallel to L4D 1 and 2?

Another good idea to make the game a little more fun, just an opinion you could it or not, is put infected animals(dogs cats cows horses lions any other thing you could think of) just an idea to make more freaky and scaryand of course if there is a zombie apocalypse there has to be animals there too?!!
i think they should show how it started wat city and people are running from the and show the swat trying to stop it then you start out as one of the characters from the first left 4 dead then as you are trying to survive then on the way you start to meat the rest of the crew then later on in the game you meet with the left 4 dead 2 members and fight together and at the end of the game you take your seperat ways and thats how you get the stories from both games

And someone in the saferoom will only open, if we find a guy next floor (or somewhere else). On this way, one char dies and that player will keep on playing with this new char.
What if we play as the midnight riders? It would be awesome!
we already have all the prequal info we need, just give us another game with more survivors (and some gameplay changing differences between said survivors)
I think the game should be set in Canada, with 4 immigrants for characters. There could be different infected, too, because of the climate.
No, I don’t want a continuation of the story, I want new characters and a new area. I love the L4D characters, but dislike the ones in number 2. I want to see other states in the US or other countries. I want to see how a different group of survivors survived the infection. I don’t want to see the Midnight Riders period. I would like to see maybe an Asian girl this time, or two girls and two guys. Think Sherry from Resident Evil 2, I want to see a younger character in the group, one who is not taking it as well as the rest, but still does her best.
While I am at it, it could take place during the first week after the infection, you could have SI’s that are still forming eg; The Tank is not strong enough yet to swat cars around, but can rip doors, hoods or trunks off cars and throw them at you. I would like an option where you can press use on a person and then drag them along if injured. It would be great if you could do this which would also lower your accuracy ie; crosshair disappears as you aren’t looking through the sights on the gun anymore.
I’m going for a continued story or a new story.
I’ve actually come up with an Idea of my own, though. But Valve or whoever is most likely not going to read this anyway. Ah whatever
Let’s say Valve makes a new(Or different from L4D3) Left for Dead game. It’s got zombies and Survivors N’ stuff, Except, It’s Open World… :O
You could adjust your Survivor’s appearance and change your backstory and what not… You could find other survivors(Online Players) and Team up with them… It would be Awesome, In my opinion…
L4d3 should have all the survivors from l4d1 and l4d2 except bill (add keith). Why must we have a prequel to learn the backstory? All kinds of games come out where the main characters find out the back story as they go through the game. Raise your hand if you are sick of the prequel craze.
I want to know how the outbrake started. Having a story behind the game would be really great. Think about the walking dead, dont you want to know what happened to make the dead to rise?
I agree with you and if Valve/ left 4 dead3 producers can see this, i would like to have a system where let’s say a hunter or a smoker uses their special ability to trap us. I would like for.left for dead three characters to have a system where they can get out of the traps of the special infected, for example a hunter got you so you either punch or kick. The hunter to get up and the u ter will be paralysed for 1-2 seconds while you get up.
What intrigues me about a prequel, is the idea to play a game, where an outbreak just took place. Its a good story for meeting other survivors. This yields a lot of possibilities for online events like crossing levels. Maybe up to 5 Teams meet in a crossing section of different levels, that are otherwise impossible to play with a single team: whatever, maybe defending some stadium gates, a market place…
I think it would b cool to do both ideas….and if we got ALL the servivors from L4D and L4D2 together in lets say Alaska and have a 8 player multiplayer ( not bill of coarse)add keith that ellis talks so much about
and it would b way more fun to have challenges just saying

anyways i really hope ldf3 comes out soon(within 6 months or so)
i believe that there should be more storyline and scenes.
more maps and offline gameplay.
also its about time we see some snow … maybe a yeti SI
npc’s should be able to use defibrillators on us and be able to throw bombs.
customizable multiplayer characters, and a multiplayer ranking system
also there should be equip-able armour … like kevlar or leather
lastly i believe is should be a prequal… around the release of the virus…

i think we should have new characters but, bring in a side frenimie, who helps u at times and sorta has a rogue side.
also, i think we should have 2 girls and 2 guys, it wuz uneven in both games that were great, but i cant explain it….

the story could start like this….
4 survivors r fightin 4 their lives, one is an expert at martial arts(male), one of his students wuz infected and asked wat wuz wrong,the kid infected other kids and he found nunchucks and fought his way.
another character can be tough nut to crack body builder(male), who haz only one thing to be grateful about, his muscles, he feels offended by the zombies and attacks them with weights.
the third character can be a hot teenage girl, who wuz on her way to a house party, when she gets there and has partied 4 a while, she finds her way lookin around the house and heard screams and luckily, the hosts dad wuz a cop, found his desert eagle and made her way out.
and the last character can be a middle aged women who has traveled her whole life, findin wars thro the places she goes and when she gets back from her last travel, in the airport, the infection breaks out, she finds and nightstick and a 9mm, she finds her way out and meets up with the other survivors

I think the prequel should be a dlc for l4d3
I think a continuation is a great idea but combine the characters of both games. I also think a cool new weapon would be a flame thrower that you could use for a limited time like the chainsaw in L4D2.
I think there should be a explanation of how the zombie infection was started
the second main thing is that i think l4d3 should have a player to zombie ratio so more than 4 people can play in one game
eg 1-player 100-zombies 1-tank 1-smoker 1-spitter 1-witch

I’ve always wanted to be able to play as any character from the left for dead saga so throw both sets in. Also I like the idea of bringing character like Keith,Whittaker or maybe even the Midnight Riders (I’ve only played Left 4 Dead 2 but I have a friend who’s played Left 4 Dead 1)
I think they should continue the story because if they have a prequel there would be no point of killing zombies if they will die faster instead of sacrificing. They should put the chapters in New York, Florida, California, Illinois, Missouri, Michigan, and some where in Area 51. But the new characters see the other characters in a chapter.
i say go with the original cast and see how they met and then return to after the parish on l4d2 and see what happens to coach and everyone else then they catch up with the originals again and they all stick together
oh, and im not black, coach is just my favorite character.
im with Arthur. it should be the original survivors and add like coach from the 2nd game and show a cut seen where he is the only one who survives the plain crash. (the plane crash is my idea, just 2 let newbies know.)
I honestly feel they should carry on from *SPOILER* when bill gives his life so the others can escape. *END OF SPOILER* perhaps let them find another survivor shortly after. I loved the original cast. l4d2 just never really appealed to me. I wanna see what happens to them. even have one saga that shows when they first met up. see their first moments when the outbreak hit. I still play L4D1. I dont play L4D2 thou. if they made a #3 and still have the original cast, I will praise value.
I think it should be a sequel, but return to the original cast since the cast in 2 were taken by the government.

Hi it’s me again!
Well… honestly, my last ideas were the worst I’ve ever made… so I took a break and thought about new, original survivour ideas and…. here they are:
1. Greg: A scientist (about 38 years old). He has black, short hair. He wears a white lab coat stained with blood. He barricadet himself in his abandoned lab to find a cure. But then zombies overran his lab and he took his last chance to escape. He took a fireaxe and fought his way through it.
2. Dean: A 21 year old DJ. He has blond, long hair and wears headphones arround his neck. Dean was partying at a local country club when the infection reached the suburbs. He “luckily” drank to much so he had to throw up and ran to the toilettes. There he unintentionally locked himself up. That’s why he survived the first days of that apocalypse. After those days he climbed out he window and was looking for a safer place. He than took a pistol from a dead policeman and found other survivours.
3. Michelle: An actress (28 years maybe). She has brown, long and curly hair and wears glasses. She also wears a mini-skirt, black tights, black boots, a dark green shirt and a dark red scarf. Grown up in a very strict family, she never had real chances to do what she wants. But she fought for her rights and went to the acting-course at the highschool. She became a good actress and was ready for her breakthrough… but then zombies overran the Highschool and she hided at a book store nearby. Then she headed to the policestation to find help and found 3 other survivours.
4. Steven: A soccer player. He is about 30 years old. Steven is bald and has a beard. He wears his team uniform (blue with red stripes). He was one of the best players in his team. Therefore he is a bit arrogant… He was training with his team when suddenly zombies ran over the field. He left everyone behind, because he only took care of his own buissnes. He then took a baseball bat from a corpse and flee. He then met Greg, Dean and Michelle
I hope you like my ideas. I myself think they are way better than my last ideas… stay alive guys!
I say we have new characters based like 3 days after first infection with a whole new story line, this is what i imagine, running through a city that is being overrun with zombies, BUT with real people running too and the military trying to hold off blockades and C.D.C around you know in the heart of the chaos.
Let it have both, after all this is Valve.
Valve has an amazing concepts & ideas.
Thank God that they still have concerns for Fans who looks forward to L4D.
